Father's Day 2008 events: Shoot Straight

We started out the morning visiting Shoot Straight in Apopka. Such a short distance for a fun time. Jana hates guns, so we warmed her up by taking her to the archery range. She was a natural. After she had bruised her forearm up enough, we moved inside to the firing range. She was a nervous wreck. After about 2 cases of ammo, Jana was a pro with her final 5 shots all landing in center mass within the smallest ring. Jana is still on the fence about me having guns in the house, but as long as she knows how to handle them we are both more at ease.

Father's day continued to the Portofino Bay Resort at Universal Studios. What a beautiful hotel and resort. The staff was extremely courteous and always seemed to find a way to make our time there more comfortable. I'm glad they didn't realize that we weren't actually staying on their property. We had a fantastic lunch at Sal's. The fried cheese sticks were the best we've had. After out meal we indulged in some cheesecake and purchased a bottle of wine. The atmosphere was hard to leave, but we had come for the pool.

The pool at the Portofino is shallow and relaxing. Plenty of lounge chairs, cabanas, and a perfect hot tub with a hot water waterfall. The smile on Jana's face as she slid down the slide into the pool was priceless. How nice to be a kid again. We'll be back.
